FAQ
— 1. What is a head spa?
A head spa is a luxurious treatment that focuses on the scalp, hair, and overall relaxation. Originating in Japan, it combines deep cleansing, therapeutic massage, steam therapy, and nourishing hair treatments to promote scalp health and enhance hair quality. It feels like a facial, but for your scalp—super relaxing and therapeutic.
— 2. Should I wash my hair before my appointment?
We recommend avoiding hair washing on the day of your session. The natural oils on your scalp can actually boost the benefits of our treatments, helping to nourish and protect your scalp throughout the Head Spa experience.
— 3. What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfort is key. We suggest wearing loose, cozy clothing that allows you to fully unwind during your treatment. No need to dress up—this is your time to relax.
— 4. Can I use my phone during the treatment?
To help you fully immerse yourself in the calming environment, we encourage clients to unplug and set aside electronic devices during their visit. This quiet time is an opportunity to disconnect from daily stress and reconnect with yourself.
— 5. Are blowouts included?
Blowouts are not included in our Head Spa services, as we are not a full-service hair salon. After your session, we offer a light blow dry to gently remove excess moisture so you don’t leave with soaking wet hair. This quick dry is for comfort only and does not involve styling or shaping.
— 6. Can you perform a Head Spa on textured hair?
Absolutely. Our specialist is trained to work with a variety of hair types, including fine, coarse, curly, and wavy textures. While we welcome all hair types, the main focus of the Head Spa is the scalp. To ensure we can provide the most effective treatment, we ask that your hair is worn in a style that allows full access to the scalp. Please note that we are unable to perform services on clients with braids, extensions, or sew-ins, as these styles can obstruct access to the scalp and follicles.
— 7. Is it safe to get a Head Spa while pregnant?
Head Spa treatments are generally safe during pregnancy and can be a relaxing experience. However, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before booking. Please let us know if you’re expecting so we can make appropriate adjustments to pressure points and essential oils.
Please note that the treatment requires lying flat on your back on a massage bed for the entire session. If this position is uncomfortable or not advised during your stage of pregnancy, we suggest postponing your visit until after delivery.
— 8. Can you accommodate two guests at the same time?
At this time, we are only able to service one guest at a time due to the size of our space. However, you’re welcome to book back-to-back appointments. While one guest is enjoying their treatment, the other is welcome to relax in our cozy lobby or explore the area—there are plenty of great shops and things to do nearby!
